This is a Traditional Karate tournament using modified AAU/WKF rules. There are divisions for Kata, Kobudo (weapons kata), Kumite (sparring) amd Board Breaking.

Location RIT Inn & Conference Center, 5257 West Henrietta rd, Henrietta, NY

Time: (Note: These are anticipated start times, not exact start times, so don’t arrive later than the scheduled time for your division or it may have already run.)

9:00 a.m. Rules & Information meeting for athletes, parents & referees

9:15 a.m. 19-34 yrs. Advanced M/F & 35+ Advanced divisions M/F

9:30 a.m. 5-8 yrs. (all divisions)

10:30 a.m. 9-12 yrs (all divisions)

12:00 p.m. 13-18 yrs. (all divisions)

12:30 p.m. 19+ (beg., nov., int.)

12:30 p.m. 4-6 yrs. Tiny Tigers Division $20 entry fee (basics/kata & board breaking)

Events:

Kobudo (weapons kata) – number scoring

Kata – two competitors up at a time (flag system)

Kumite (sparring) – single elimination

Board Breaking – 3 boards per person (number scoring)

Tiger division – individual basics/kata, board breaking (1 child size board)

Divisions:

Athletes are grouped by age and experience level

Beginner, under 1 year experience,

Novice, 1-2 years experience,

Intermediate, 2-4 years experience,

Advanced, over 4 years experience,

Fee:

$60 for 1 event; $80 for 2 or more events

$25 for Tiger Division 4-6 yrs old  individual basics/kata, board breaking (1 child size board)

Dress:  Traditional karate uniform. No t-shirts.

EquipmentFoam gloves and boots (any color) or AAU/WKF equipment. Foam helmet with face shield required for everyone. Mouthguards are mandatory for everyone. Cup and supporter are mandatory for males.  Rib guards and Shin/instep guards are optional.

Registration:   This is a pre-registration only event. No registrations taken at door. Registration closes at midnight Thursday April 27, 2023.

Awards: Championship Medals for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places. Participation awards for all participants.

Spectator Fee: $8 for ages 12 and up; $5 for 6-11 years old. 5 and under is free.
